1.  Avoid Shower, Shock, and Magnets

As self-evident as it might be, you should remove your watch before the shower. Now before triumphantly exclaiming: ‘’Ha, my watch is water resistant!’’, acknowledge the fact that the hot steam can easily get slurped right into the heart of your water resistant watch.  

The mechanism of a watch is based on very tiny and precise gears. Even the slightest disturbances can make your watch permanently inaccurate.   Storing your watch in a watch case can help you protect it from humidity, moisture, and dust.  

Your watch can also be damaged by impact with hard surfaces and magnetic fields from electronic devices. So, make sure you remove your watch before your work out.

2. Clean Your Watch The Right Way

You would probably be surprised to learn - not many people clean their watches AT ALL. Big mistake! If you have not removed the gunk from your watch for longer than month make sure to do it. And you have to do it the right way. And with the right set of tools.  

Thankfully, you probably already have them – you’ll need dish soap, soft toothbrush warm water, and two bowls. 

Make sure to set up one bowl of clean warm water and another with warm soapy water. Then carefully soak the bracelet or strap of your watch into soapy water for 10-20 seconds. After you take it out scrub it carefully by using a damp and soft toothbrush. Then rinse it with clean water. Before you put it back in Your watch box, remember to pat it dry with a soft cloth.

However, if your watch has a leather band it will need special care. Use professional products developed for cleaning leather car seats. In spite of being produced for car seats, they are great for leather bands.

3.  Choose a Proper Watch Case

Now the proper storage of Your watch is as important as cleaning it. A car has a garage, and your watches should have a watch box.

It is important to store your watches separately from one another to avoid unnecessary scratches and other damage. Sure, you could store your watches in their original boxes, but that would clog up your room real fast.
